Kaiju No. 8: A Monster of a Good Time!
Hey, anime fans! I just finished watching Kaiju No. 8, and I'm so glad I took the plunge! With zero knowledge of the series (no trailers, no synopsis, just podcast recs), I went in blind and came out loving it.
The Plot:
Childhood friends Kafka and Mina vow to join the Defense Force to fight Japan's kaiju menace. Fast-forward, Kafka's cleaning up monster guts while Mina's living their dream. But when Kafka's attacked by a kaiju, he transforms into a humanoid monster with incredible powers! Now, he's "Kaiju No. 8," using his new abilities for good.
My Thoughts:
Kaiju No. 8 is a humourous, action-packed ride! The mystery surrounding the kaiju's origins and goals keeps you engaged. Characters are solid, and the animation is top-notch (vice-captain's sword skills, anyone?). Plus, those opening and ending songs? Added to my playlist!
The Deets:
Premier: April 2024
Episodes: 12
Studio: Production IG
MAL Score: 8.34
A&O Score: 8.5
A&O Verdict: Recommended
Verdict:
Kaiju No. 8 is a must-watch for shounen fans! With its unique blend of humour, action, and sci-fi, you won't regret joining the fight against the kaiju. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
